DIY Spreader Bar

We’re excited to share our new DIY Spreader Bar Squid Kits with you. These easy to assemble kits feature step-by-step video and illustrated instructions. Each kit features the exact same components and rigging featured in our 30inch Flexi-Bar Spreader Bar Series.

1) ATTACH PRE-CUT 200LB TEST 28″ FLANK LINES

For simplicity’s sake we included pre-cut 28″ flank lines. Attach flank lines to bar. We use 200lb test for the spreader bar, so that will require the 1.9mm Crimp we included. Use the the 1.9mm hole on crimpers that match the crimp diameter, and squeeze crimpers all the way close.

TIP: These are 2X long crimps, so repeat the crimping process three times working down the crimp evenly.

2) ADD TEASERS TO FLANK LINES

Cut the smallest hole in squid by cutting the very tip off the quid, so that the line can run through. Next add a bead, then a crimp. Then repeat with 1 more each: squid, crimp, bead. The first crimp should be 6″ from the top of flank line. The second crimp should be crimped at the very tail end of the line. Repeat the process for a second flank line.

3) FINISH HUB PORTION OF CENTER LINE

Part 1)

(A) Start by running the 60″ leader through the center hub on the bar.

(B) Slide on a squid.

(C) Slid one a crimp and black chafe gear. Fold the chafe gear back over and the line underneath back through the crimp. Then crimp.

Part 2)

(A) Slide bead, and then a crimp up the center line and secure about 1″ before the hub, allowing 1″ of play on either side of the center line.

4) FINISH THE CENTER LINE

Part 1)

(A) Slide on a 6″ Squid, bead and crimp and secure crimp 8″ from the center hub.

(B) Add second iteration of 6″ squid, bead, crimp and crimp 14″ below the previous crimp.

(C) Add 3rd and 4th iteration of 6″ Squid, bead and crimp 14″ below the previous squid.

(D) Add Snap-Swivel and final squid and attach stinger.

Part 2)

A) Slide on in the following order: 9″ Squid + 4 beads + 1oz egg sinker + 1 crimp + 1 metal chafe gear part.

B) Thread chafe gear through hook, form loop and secure crimp at the end of line.
