Q&A: Best Tarpon Lures for Veracruz, Mexico

QUESTION:

I would really appreciate your recommendation on your favorite lures for big tarpon. In Veracruz, we have tarpon from 100 to over 200 Lb.

Depth: From 40 to 70 ft

ANSWER:

We had a tarpon lure kit (circa 2015) that would have been perfect for targeting these fish near the surface. 

Aside from the kit, I would recommend picking up a few 1oz to 3oz Barbarian Jig Heads paired with the 9-inch HDUV Jiggin' Eel in Herring. 

The jigging lure and eel tail are for jigging near the middle and bottom. I’ve had very good success for tarpon with all of these lures.
