Q&A: What's the best Hogy set up for Yellowfin
Posted by Ross Gallagher on
Topwater: 7" Charter Grade Popper
Work this plug around visible surface feeds, or in areas where you're marking fish in the upper water column. Excellent for low light conditions, or when surface bait is present.

Mid-Water: 6.5oz Sand Eel Jig
These jigs are perfect for targeting Yellowfin Tuna suspended mid-water column feeding on a variety of baitfish species. The jigs can be worked with a speed jigging retrieve to quickly cover the water column, or be fished using the slow-twitch method for working precise depths using a slow, short twitching motion in the strike zone.

Deep-Water: 6oz Harness Jig
These large softbait jigs are perfect for imitating large forage at deep depths. Simply deploy the jig to your target depth and begin using a slow jigging motion working the Harness Jig up through the water column. Allow short pauses when jigging and pay close attention to your line while jigging. Most strikes will occur on the drop.

Trolling: Directional Bird Bars
These floating, compact spreader bars float and can be trolled without the use of outriggers. We recommend using at least 3 individual bars in the spread for the best bait ball effect while trolling. Bars can be trolled from 4-8mph on conventional or heavy spin tackle. We generally do best with bright colors like green mack or rainbow.
