Q&A: Lure Suggestions Shore Fishing The Bahamas
Posted by Ross Gallagher on
Q: Hello, I am going to the Bahamas in a few weeks and intend to do some casting off the beach/ rocks near my house. Do you recommend a lure set that would be good for yellowtail or red snapper? Grouper too if possible! Thank You! - Andrew C. A: Enjoy your upcoming trip to the Bahamas! Land-based anglers will encounter a variety of toothy species including Barracuda and Houndfish, so durable jigs and plugs are recommended. QUESTION: What is the best sized hook to increase your hook up and landing ratio for Tarpon? ANSWER: Our best hookup ratio on hooks will be from the Soft Circle Hook (4/0 Size) or the Barbarian Swimbait Hook (10/0 Size for 10” Size Soft Baits) Both offer excellent penetration on tarpon and a higher landing ratio than conventional style jigs and hooks.

As an aside, I get all my Snook and Tarpon on regular jigs with no problems, so I was just curious if your custom hook requires a different technique for solid hook-ups. Seems like it should do the job very well yet...
