    This rod means business!

Purchased this rod to target bottom fish on Jeffreys ledge (pollock, haddock, cod, cusk and hopefully halibut). This rod has exceeded my expectations in terms of the blank stiffness, the thickness and material of the guides, its reel seat and its overall finish/build. It’s more like a custom rod than a manufactured one. I know Hogy’s description lists this rod as a MH blank, but it feels much more like a H on XH in terms of power. I paired this rod with a Penn Fathom 40NLD2 and it’s more than adequate for bottom fishing 16 ounce jigs and sinkers. The only reason I gave four instead of five stars is because I think a rod of this build should have an aluminum gimbal, but this is a very minor complaint! If I could give it four and a half, I would.

Great product well made. Gonna top with a Penn Squall 2. I’m sure it will pull lots of fish up.

Honey makes great products and I will be putting this fine looking rod to the test. Let’s see if it can tackle some tuna.

Multiple applications. Strong and light. Balanced. Built well

This will provide years of service for multiple species. Dropping bottom wifh a fish finder rig. Staight up and down jigging. Maybe other uses. Handles a wide gamut of weight 4-16. So options abound
