"Match the micro hatch. Convert short strikes. Multiply hookups."

The Hogy Jig-Biki Teaser:
How many times have you found small crabs in the stomachs of just about every type of groundfish? If your experience is anything like ours, A LOT! That discovery inspired the creation of the Hogy Jig-Biki Rig—a meticulously crafted rig designed to dramatically enhance your groundfishing game.
Built to fish baitless, this rig excels across species and regions, from Maine to Key West. Featuring olive-colored teaser hair, the Jig-Biki Rig seamlessly integrates into our proven teaser system, matching the assist hooks on our highly acclaimed Squinnows, Groundfish Biki Jigs, and Sand Eel Jigs.
Key Features & Benefits
- Lifelike Imitation: Designed to mimic small crustaceans, shrimp, and tiny baitfish with an irresistible allure for inshore and offshore species. The lifelike appearance and movement dramatically increase strikes.
- Versatile Teaser System: Incorporates natural crab-like hues of pink and olive, complemented by fish-attracting flash, creating a visually enticing presentation.
- System Integration: Matches seamlessly with assist hooks on larger jigs, forming a cohesive system that amplifies your jigging performance.
"In tactical groundfishing, teasers are not optional — they’re a core component of the system. The Jig-Biki sits above the primary jig and creates a two-level presentation, capturing fish that lift to inspect but don’t commit to the bottom lure. Teasers increase efficiency by converting interest into hookups rather than creating attraction on their own." - Capt. Mike Hogan

SALTY CAPE SYSTEM
When to fish the Jig-Biki Teaser System
Environmental Factors (E)
- Any depth from 15–400’ where groundfish are present
- Slow to strong current — the rig adapts because the teasers are light and responsive
- Rock, wreck, gravel, shell, and mixed bottom
- Cold water or warm water — the presentation scales with tempo, not hardware
- Both inshore structure and offshore banks
Why Jig-Biki: The rig is depth-independent and current-independent. It works everywhere the primary jig works, adding a second level of presentation without adding weight or complexity.
Observational Factors (O):
- Fish present but not committing to the bottom jig
- Short strikes and follows — fish lifting to inspect
- Crabs, shrimp, or micro-bait visible in the system
- Multiple species holding at different levels above structure
- Bait has been stripped from the jig and fish are still around
- High fish density where multi-hookup potential exists
Why Jig-Biki: The Jig-Biki converts interest into hookups. It captures the fish that see the bottom jig but commit to the teaser instead. In competitive multi-species scenarios, it consistently produces the highest numbers.
Structure + Approach (S + A):
- Wrecks and artificial reefs (sea bass, scup, cod)
- Rock piles and boulder fields (tog, sea bass)
- Gravel bottoms and offshore banks (haddock, cod)
- Sand-to-structure transitions (fluke)
- Deep ledge systems (cod, pollock, halibut)
Approach Logic: Attach the Jig-Biki to your primary jig before the drop. Match hook size and leader to the depth and species. The rig rides above the jig naturally — no adjustment or tuning needed. Fish the same techniques you’d fish without it; the Jig-Biki adds coverage without changing your approach.
Techniques (T):
- Slow-Pitch Jigging — Default technique; teasers flutter on the lift and drop
- Passive Soak — Boat rock does the work; automates presentation
- Hi-Lo Upgrade — Teasers plus bait on the main jig; scent backup when bait is gone
- Multi-Drop — Stacked rigs for vertical curtain coverage in deep water
Why Jig-Biki: The Jig-Biki is the only component in the groundfish system that goes in front of everything else. It doesn’t replace your jig — it amplifies it. Different techniques don’t require different teasers. One rig, every scenario.

Groundfish Rods:
Built with a soft, yet sensitive blank, these rods resist accidental breakage due to high sticking but still offer high sensitivity to light bites on smaller presentations, plus they have plenty of backbone in the blank to apply added pressure for larger inshore species. Paired with an appropriately sized reel, these are a pleasure to fish for daily applications.
- Mod-Fast Action Black For Increased Sensitivity.
- Premium Grade Cork Grip
- Heavy Duty Locking Aluminum Reel Seat
