Bottom control. Biki advantage. No bait required.

The Hogy Groundfish Biki-Jig:
The Hogy Groundfish Biki Jig is the foundation of our tactical groundfish system — a light-tackle, no-bait approach to bottom fishing where success is driven by feel and placement, not soak time. The Biki Jig combines a unique flat-profiled groundfish head with an integrated Biki teaser skirt and a heavy-duty VMC Barbarian hook, creating a jig that sits upright on bottom, pulses naturally on the lift and fall, and catches fish without bait.
- Integrated Biki Teaser System:
The Biki Jig merges the proven Jig-Biki Teaser platform directly into the jig itself. The skirted teaser pulses naturally on every lift and fall, creating a two-level visual trigger — the jig's crab-pattern body draws attention on the bottom, while the Biki skirt fires up fish that lift to inspect. When your crab or strip bait is gone, the scent-retaining teaser keeps you in the game.
- Flat-Profiled Head — Upright Sit, Every Time:
The teardrop-shaped, flat-profiled head is designed to lay the jig perfectly on bottom with the hook sitting upright. This is critical for groundfish that feed by inspecting and picking — the hook is always in position for clean penetration, and the jig doesn't roll or tip on uneven bottom.
- No Bait Required:
The Biki Jig is designed to fish effectively without bait, removing a major variable from the system. The combination of crab-pattern paint, glow accents, and Biki teaser skirt provides enough visual presence and scent retention to trigger strikes on its own. Tipping with crabs or squid strips is optional and species-dependent, but never required.
- Hand-Painted Crab Pattern with Glow:
Imitative crustacean finish with glow visibility accents. Designed to match the most common forage found in groundfish stomachs — small crabs and shrimp. The glow provides visibility in low-light, deep-water, and dirty-water conditions without relying on flash.
Groundfish Biki-Jigs
The Groundfish Biki Jig is Capt. Mike's numbers getter. A flat-profiled, skirted jig that sits upright on bottom, pulses on every lift, and catches groundfish without bait. It's the foundation of the tactical groundfish system — simple, efficient, and deadly in shallow to moderate depth on everything from scup and sea bass to tog and fluke. Three weights cover 15–100 feet. No rigging complications, no bait dependency, no wasted time.
Jig-Biki Groundfish Teaser
Built to fish baitless, this rig excels across species and regions, from Maine to Key West. Featuring olive-colored teaser hair, the Jig-Biki Rig seamlessly integrates into our proven teaser system, matching the assist hooks on our highly acclaimed Squinnows, Groundfish Biki Jigs, and Sand Eel Jigs.
“I have fished a variety of tautog and bottomfish jigs. This one ticks all the boxes. The Biki addition to this jig takes it to another level! I regularly catch fish on this jig without bait.” Capt. Ray Jarvis

When to Swim the Groundfish Biki Jig
Environmental Factors (E):
- Shallow to moderate depth (15–100')
- Slow to moderate current where bottom contact can be maintained
- Rock, boulder, wreck, shell, and hard-bottom structure
- Mixed bottom with sand-to-rock transitions
- Cold water conditions where fish are sluggish and feeding deliberately
- Clear to moderately dirty water
Why Biki Jig: The flat head maintains bottom contact in slow-to-moderate current. The Biki skirt fires even when the angler isn't actively jigging, keeping the presentation alive in conditions where fish need time to commit.
Observational Factors (O):
- Fish pinned tight to bottom and feeding deliberately
- Subtle taps and short strikes — fish inspecting but not committing
- Crabs, shrimp, or crustacean forage visible in the system
- Fish holding on specific structure pieces rather than roaming
- Situations where bait has been picked clean and bare jigs aren't producing
Why Biki Jig: The crab-pattern body and Biki teaser match the forage profile groundfish eat most often. The scent-retaining skirt keeps producing when bait is gone. Designed for fish that pick and inspect, not chase.
Structure + Approach (S + A):
- Rock piles, boulder fields, and ledges (tautog, sea bass)
- Wrecks and artificial reefs (sea bass, scup)
- Shell beds and hard-bottom patches (scup)
- Sand-to-rock transitions and edges (fluke)
- Bridge pilings, jetties, and nearshore structure
Approach Logic: Use chart plotter or Navionics to identify structure. Line up drifts to cross productive bottom. Drop the Biki Jig to the bottom and maintain contact through the drift. The flat head and upright hook orientation mean the jig is always fishing correctly, even when the drift pulls it across uneven terrain.
Techniques (T):
- Slow Tap Jigging — Default bottom technique for coverage and bite detection
- Sit and Thump — Tog specialty; mimics crabs on rocks
- Lift and Fall — Engages fish willing to rise slightly off bottom
- Drop and Drag — Fluke technique; covers sand-to-structure edges
- Dead Stick — Cold-water, low-energy situations; boat rock does the work
Why Biki Jig: The Biki Jig prioritizes feel and placement over speed or flash. Different techniques — not different jigs — adapt the same tool to species behavior. The integrated teaser means every technique is a two-level presentation, increasing hookup efficiency without adding complexity.

Biki-Jig Storage
Keep all your Biki-Jigs carefully stored in one place with easy to rinse and store marine grade mesh storage bags.
- Easy-rinse marine grade mesh.
- Holds up to 12 Biki-Jigs.
- Hassle free multi-pouch storage.
- Sturdy and durable locking wrap.

Inshore Epoxy Jig Rods
Built with a soft, yet sensitive blank, these rods resist accidental breakage due to high sticking but still offer high sensitivity to light bites on smaller presentations, plus they have plenty of backbone in the blank to apply added pressure for larger inshore species. Paired with an appropriately sized reel, these are a pleasure to fish for daily applications.
- Mod-Fast Action Black For Increased Sensitivity.
- Premium Grade Cork Grip
- Heavy Duty Locking Aluminum Reel Seat
- Premium Ceramic Guides
