- Commercial Grade Construction
- Versatile Size Options from 12" - 19"
- Offshore Grade Ball-Bearing Swivel for Line Protection
Where and When to Use:
Bottom Trolling for Trophy Stripers: Perfectly imitates big eels and sea worms in bottom dwelling environments, enticing predators holding close to the bottom. Ideal for targeting fish holding tight to underwater ledges, boulder fields, and drop-offs. Tubes are easily positioned at specific depths with proper boat maneuvering, line management, and weighting systems. This makes them the perfect lure for "pin-point" fishing where precision is critical.
Long-Distance Trolling: The robust construction and consistent action make Perfect Tubes ideal for extended trolling sessions in large fishing grounds. The large size and profile provide a high return on energy for big, lazy fish. Not only is the tube highly visible from afar, but its substantial profile also makes it worth the effort for predators to pursue and eat.
Open Water Cobia Hunting: Perfect for targeting cobia cruising in open water, as the large tube mimics the appearance and movement of eels—one of their favorite meals. Its larger size creates a wider range of presentation, making it highly effective for drawing cobia from greater distances.
Hogy Perfect Tubes
The Hogy "Perfect Tube" series sets the standard for tube-and-worm fishing rigs, delivering unmatched action, durability, and versatility. Available in 16", 19", and 24" lengths, these tubes are designed to perfectly mimic large prey like eels and sea worms, making them the ultimate choice for targeting trophy-sized striped bass, bluefish, and cobia.
Engineered for precision and performance, the Perfect Tube excels in diverse environments, from rocky coastlines and deep-water ledges to expansive open water. With its built-in helix-core and durable rubber tubing, it delivers consistent, lifelike wobble that predatory fish simply cannot resist. Whether you’re trolling long distances, working structure, or hunting open water giants, the Perfect Tube lives up to its name—every time.

How to fish the Perfect Tube and fishing applications.
Environmental Factors (E):
- Bright days: Stripers hold tighter to bottom in clear, sunny conditions. The tube reaches them and stays horizontal in their comfort zone.
- Windy days: Casting is out, but contour-trolling with the tube maintains a consistent presentation even when drift control is tough.
- Strong current: Trolling with the tide gives a natural angle and pace, allowing the tube’s spiral to work in harmony with water flow.
- Slack tide: Fish scatter or suspend. The tube methodically canvasses structure and intercepts lazy feeders when topwater is dead.
Observational Factors (O):
- Suspended stripers on sonar: Troll the tube just above bottom marks where fish are holding mid-column, especially when they’re ignoring vertical jigs.
- Resident fish on structure: Slow down, add tight turns, and hold your line through their lanes. The tube’s long, hypnotic profile does the rest.
- No surface activity: When birds are sitting and bait isn’t pushing up, tubing is the perfect fallback. Quietly cover ground and tease out buried fish.
- Worm hatches: Red and wine tubes during spring/summer worm hatches are devastating.
Structure + Approach (S + A)
- Eelgrass flats: Work inside and outside edges where bass wait in ambush. A shallow-trolled tube is stealthy and lethal.
- Shoal drop-offs: Troll parallel to the breaks at variable depth. Let the tube dance just over the edge where bait spills off with the tide.
- Deep contours: A 4 oz trolling weight gets you into deeper lanes and subtle bowls — prime territory for fish that won’t budge for anything else.
- Shallow boulder fields: The 16” tube shines here. Work through the 15–20’ zone in tight loops to entice fish sitting just off the rocks.
- Natural channels: Follow the ebb and flow, pick up quickly at the end of a productive line, and re-deploy with a slightly different angle.
- Mussel beds: Slow troll just off the bottom. Mussel beds concentrate forage and draw stripers close. Best fished during outgoing tides.
