Field Test Offer: Perfect Pocket Tube 12"
The Hogy 12" Pocket Tube is a counterintuitive yet highly pragmatic addition to the tube-and-worm fishing rig category, reimagining what anglers traditionally expect from tube lures. Unlike the large, heavier tubes commonly associated with trolling, the Pocket Tube is engineered for ultra-light tackle and shallow water fishing. At just 12 inches, it is the smallest tube in the Hogy lineup (and smaller than any others we know of), optimized for ultra-light gear, including spinning rods you might use for casting to stripers. This compact design allows anglers to explore estuaries, flats, and boulder fields with ease, targeting species like striped bass and bluefish with precision and finesse. Its versatility and portability make it an ideal choice for small skiffs, kayaks, and minimalist anglers.
Key Features:
Compact and Lightweight Design: At just 12 inches, the Pocket Tube redefines tube fishing for ultra-light gear, making it perfect for trolling or casting with spinning rods.
Shallow Water Mastery: Excels in estuaries, flats, and shallow rocky areas where larger tubes can be less effective or cumbersome.
Built-In "Perfect" Action: The smaller profile delivers the same pre-tuned wobble as its bigger brothers. Its shorter length creates a narrower diameter in the Perfect-Tube helix-core, resulting in a tighter wobble that mimics a disturbed sea worm or a smaller, more aggressive "shoe string" eel.
Streamlined for Minimalists: Compact size and simplified use make it a go-to choice for anglers who value portability and efficiency on the water. The Hogy Pocket Tube fits conveniently in a Plano 3700 series tray or Hogy’s 12" Roll-Up Mesh Jig Bag, making it easy to organize and store for anglers on the move.
Applications:
Ultra-Light Trolling and Casting: Designed to be trolled effortlessly on spinning rods, it allows anglers to simplify their setup while maintaining
effectiveness.
Its lightweight design is equally adept for casting around boulders, making it versatile for anglers exploring skinny water.
Shallow Water Precision: Optimized for environments like estuaries and flats, where its compact size and subtle action shine.
Perfect for targeting species that hold close to structure or feed in shallow zones.
Minimalist and Mobile Fishing: Ideal for anglers fishing from small skiffs or kayaks who need compact, reliable gear that performs in tight quarters.

Doesn't get any easier. No tuning needed, just run them right out of the bag.

I bought 1) Black and 1) Red 24" perfect tubes. They are more substantial than they look on the web. (Less like a mudworm and more like an Eel). Higher quality component than my old Sekora Bluefish tubes. (Stainless swivels instead of classic Roscoes). The hooks are big Siwashes which I have been using for decades, ( as per a commercial fisherman) As is typical with Hogy's products they took a Standard item piece of tackle and evolved it to it's best version. I sm going to have to grab a set of those 4 ounce trolling weights on my next visit. I need to get them down and control them better and they, the trolling weight, should help. I' ll be using these to single out the big " Chaperone" bluefish and staggering depths to grab a Slot Striper. I pulled the trigger on these because of the balance weighted Stainless wire core because the presentation is unbeatable. I'll be using Berkley Power bait Bloodworms as Sea worms are out of my budget. Now I can ply the deeper nooks and crannies of the Long Island Sound with 40# lead line and 60# AFW Surflon as summer drives them down to cooler waters.

How to Fish a Tube and Worm for Big Stripers
Unlike most tubes that require anglers to form their own bends in the tube and hope the tube swims correctly, the SI Perfect Tube is unique in that it's 'pre-tuned' to fish perfectly right out of the package. And unlike inferior tubes with weak components of questionable quality, the SI Perfect Tube features top shelf ball bearing swivels and an interchangeable 3x strong assist hook rig, pre-sharpened. This tube can be fished at very slow speeds and will swim perfectly, including by anglers in kayaks.

The Art of Light Tackle Tube-and-Worm Fishing
Tube and worm fishing happens to be one of my all-time favorite methods for targeting big striped bass, especially in daytime when big striped bass are notoriously difficult to catch. While I indeed love the nostalgia and connection to two generations of striped bass anglers, I also love how highly technical and rewarding tactical tubing is. Combining precision boat maneuvers, strategic tube size selection, and tactical rigging, this method transforms into one of the most effective ways to target big striped bass and bluefish.
How-To: Trolling Tube Lures For Cobia, Ling, Lemonfish
The traditional tube and worm lure has been used by Striped Bass anglers for decades. Recently, we've seen a dramatic uptick in our Mid-Atlantic customers using the Hogy 19" and 24" Perfect Tube to target migratory populations of cobia along Virginia Beach and the Lower Chesapeake Bay area.
