System Rods: Hybrids

Hogy System Rods: Hybrids

Whether you're packing light or solving specific challenges, these rods offer multi-method utility in streamlined form.

Why Hybrids Belong in the System

Overlap by Design: Hybrid rods are designed to fill gaps between core roles—giving you versatility without compromise.

Tactical Tools: Every rod gives you multi-method confidence—cast, jig, or troll with a single setup.

Ideal for Backup: Great for second setups, mid-trip “new” missions, or packing light on long range runs.

Rod Consolidation: Hybrid rods help reduce loadouts while expanding on-the-water capability.

Why It Matters:

This fills in gaps for any light tackle angler who occasionally doubles down on heavy gear.

“The Lean Rod System isn’t about making compromises for sake of ease, it’s about doing more with gear that makes sense. From topwaters to jigging, the system built to move fast, fish smart, and stay comfortable. Because when your rods are part of the system and not just a pile on the deck, You focus less on what to grab next… and more on what the fish are doing."
TIPS & TECHNIQUE

HOGY SYSTEM RODS

Tube and Worm Striper Trolling | In-Line Trolling Weights

Capt. Mike Hogan shows us how to use the Hogy In-Line Trolling Weight for Tube and Worm striped bass trolling in Cape Cod Bay with Capt. Dave Peros. For anglers looking to troll for striped bass tube and worm, the in-line trolling weight offers the ability to troll at deep depths without the use of Lead Core or Wire Line outfits.

How To: Trolling for Cobia with the Hogy Perfect Tube

Capt Ross Gallagher from Hogy Lures takes 4 minutes to deep dive on trolling Hogy Perfect Tubes for Cobia. Capt. Ross goes deep into the proper approach to cobia trolling with artificial tube lures. From proper gear for cobia trolling, to the correct trolling speed and technique. Everything you need to know when it comes to trolling tubes for cobia can be found here. We hope you can translate the information in this video into catching a cobia of your own. Enjoy!

No Outrigger Bluefin Tuna Trolling + Hogy Directional Bird Bar

Capt. Mike Hogan shows us how to deploy a 5-rod no-outrigger tuna spread using the Hogy Directional Tuna Splash Bird Bars for trolling scattered tuna in Cape Cod Bay. The Hogy 18" Pocket Splash Bar has a place in every spread. Its small size makes it easy to manage on light tackle and traditional gear. The bird is made out of super lightweight foam that is impossibly strong. The oversized wings spray water up to 24" and are made of a semi-rigid plastic that reduces breakage when the bar hits the deck.

Open Water Trolling for BIG Striped Bass | Cape Cod Bay

In this video, we join Capt. Terry Nugent of Riptide Charters ventures into Cape Cod Bay in search of big stripers scattered in open water. Stripers were feeding on fast-moving schools of large pogy, macks, and herring.

How To: No Bait Fluke Fishing

Capt. Mike of Hogy Lures and walks through how to target Fluke in Nantucket Sound with no bait! With the help of the Hogy Jig-Biki Rigs, Capt. Mike is able to target a magnitude of groundfish species with no bait!

Spring Haddock Jigging - Stellwagen Bank

We filmed this haddock video a couple weeks ago, and man did it feel good. We were "twitch jigging” in attempt to avoid snagging “by-catch” cod, which sometimes happens on “fast style” jigging where the jig spans a greater area in the water column with sharp hooks and soft cod bodies. Capt. Rob and I each had the same rigs, the 5/0 Crystal Jig-Biki rig paired with the 6.5oz Pink Sand Eel jig. His rig was tipped with sea clam, mine was not! I can’t say I out-fished Capt. Rob but I certainly did as well as he did. AND I made less mess! (No foul hooked fish either!)
