Description

Every May in New England, the worm hatch turns quiet backwaters into a feeding frenzy—and matching the hatch can mean the difference between a banner day and a blank. Our Limited Edition Worm Hatch Epoxy Jigs were built for that exact moment.

Based on the classic black and red worm hatch fly patterns, these jigs are carefully scaled and balanced for light tackle fishing in estuaries, harbors, and back bays. Designed for subtle presentationslong-distance casting, and slow, natural retrieves, they mimic the spiraling, slithering movement of emerging worms almost perfectly.

Built on our proven epoxy jig platform, they combine strike-triggering realism with the toughness to survive multiple fish—even when blues move into the mix. If you’re serious about worm hatch fishing, you need one of these tied on.

    The perfect beach bonito offering

The 7/8 Hogy epoxy jig is the single best beach funny fish tin out there. Perfect mix of size/weight/action to use the majority of the time. The single inlines make releasing fish a lot easier and safer for everyone involved… but those trebles still hook more.

    Versatility

The Epoxy changed the game years ago, with such a variety of sizes and colors these jigs catch everything. From Bluefin Tuna to Black Seabass, never underestimate the epoxy. I use them throughout the season on a variety of species. They are easy for my clients to fish, and extremely effective.

    They just work

Bought some in preparation for albies, but I’ve caught several other fish on them (Black Sea bass, stripers, sea robins (yuck), and even a jack) They work well in both jigging and cast & retrieve, if there’s fish in your waters these will find them. Also worth mentioning the stock hardware is quality

    Lots of bonito

Great, this lure especially in the olive color always seems to work for me. Caught many bonito and false albacore trolling, casting and even jigging it

Micro-Bait Striper Fishing On Hogy Epoxy Jigs

Micro Season: The Worm Hatch

Every spring, the estuaries and backwaters of Southern New England experience the annual worm hatch. This event marks the rise of worms from the mudflats, and stripers, bluefish, and other predators capitalize on this abundant food source. For anglers, the worm hatch represents a golden window to target trophy striped bass on light tackle in these rich, tidal environments. With proper timing, technique, and understanding of fish behavior, it’s possible to capitalize on this peak fishing event, making it a key part of Cape Cod's fishing calendar.

Hook Types: J Hooks vs. Treble Hooks

When choosing J hooks for your lures, it's crucial to understand the various types of J hooks and how their orientation can impact the lure's performance. Here’s a detailed guide that includes factors like hook types, number of hooks, size, wire gauge, and orientation for swimming plugs, poppers, and pencil poppers.

Hook Size and Gap

Matching Hook Size to Target Species: Hook Size: Larger fish generally require larger hooks to ensure a secure hook set, while smaller fish need appropriately sized hooks to avoid injury and increase hook-up rates. Hook Gap: The size of the hook gap is crucial for effective hook penetration. Larger hooks with wider gap
