5'9" Hogy Tuna Jigging Rod

System Role: The tuna jigging “Work Truck.”
SKU: HTJ7MHM
MSRP: $295.95

This rod is the workhorse of the Hogy Offshore System. Built short and strong, it’s designed to muscle tuna from deep water with jigs ranging from 4oz to 16oz. Whether you're dropping metal, paddles, or eel tails, it delivers unmatched control and stopping power. Powerfully parabolic, the rod fights the fish — not your back. It’s your offshore “Work Truck,” ready for battle day in and day out.

Description:

The moderate-fast, parabolic action means you’re not fighting the rod—you’re fighting the fish. It’s the one rod in my Lean System that earns its place through specialization. If you’re going deep, dealing with drag, and trying to land 100lb+ fish without wrecking your back—this is the tool. Think of it as your deep-water anchor. Comfortable. Forgiving. Brutally effective.

    Impressive

First impressions are that this is a good looking rod, well made and built to fight a big tuna. I like the long cork grips. Plan on testing it out on yellowfin in the Gulf of Mexico soon and will do another review

Hogy Tuna Spinning Jigging rod review

This rod totally exceeded my expectations and was perfect for my charters. It’s very light which allows for myself and my clients to Jig for hours without getting tired, but also has plenty of backbone for lifting large fish. I will be running these rods for all of my jigging setups from now on!

    Excellent rod - very versitile

Bought this rod so I can troll on my flat line with Hogy sand eels or ballyhoo as well as jig. Love it and it has produced 4 fish this year already!

FAQ

Quick answers for most commonly asked questions about the The Hogy Lean Rod System

What makes this rod more comfortable than others?

The action. Most tuna jigging rods are too fast, too stiff, or too short to balance control with comfort. This rod has a parabolic bend that:

  • Cushions the fight
  • Protects hooks and leader
  • Reduces fatigue in your lower back and arms

Plus, the soft gimbal butt sits comfortably in a harness belt without digging in or shifting under load.
