    Game Changer

I think we all fish for False Albacore because of the many challenges we face each year when they show up trying to figure out what will work in order to hook up with one. We all learn pretty quickly the high percentage spots the Albies will be but it’s what to use to make your chances of getting an Albie to take what your throwing greater.

This year, they’d be up and down petty quick chasing anchovies. Barely enough time to get a couple of casts off. It can be frustrating but also a fun challenge.

At night, they is a lot of reading and watching videos preparing for the next trip. When I saw the video on the pop n fly, I felt this was a high percentage combination for the quick Albie blitzes.

Coming from a fly fishing background it’s very similar to the hopper/dropper combination.

The first day I used the pop n fly it worked like a charm. The clear popper grabs the attention of the Albie and the trailing PROTAIL FLY was the most visible and what the Albie went after. Almost an instant hookup. The pop n fly also works great blind casting in between the blitzes.

The pop n fly is a must have as part as your False Albacore tackle. It’s also great for Stripers, Blues and Bonito.

The protails were the game changer. They did their job especially when the Albies were being finicky!

Just returned from a five-day Albie fishing trip to Watch Hill, RI and Montauk, NY. On this trip I tried your Pop n’ Fly technique for the first time. The results were unbelievable. I actually lost count of the number of Albies I caught during the trip. I also landed a Bonito, 31in Striped Bass and a Bluefish with the Pop n’ Fly to complete my first grand slam.

    Match the hatch

When fish are keyed in on micro bait this is the answer. I use it as a teaser above my plug or attached to the end of a casting egg.
