Four-Rod Squid Bird Bar Spread + Hybrid Conventional Rod Bundle

Description

The whole spread in one box. Four bars in the four positions they are meant to run, plus the rod you fight the fish on, and you are trolling within an hour of leaving the dock instead of piecing a spread together over three seasons.

Squid Bird Bars work because they sell the school. The birds break the surface and throw water, the squid trail behind in formation, and a tuna running the edge of that commotion reads it as bait balled up and busy. A fish eats what looks like the straggler in a crowd.

Squid Bird Bars, Center Position (x2): they ride the clean water behind the boat where the prop wash flattens out. The centers ship in two patterns so you can run them side by side in the cleanest water and let the fish tell you which one they want that day.

Squid Bird Bar, Port Position: sets wide, out past the wash where a fish cruising off to the side sees it first.

Squid Bird Bar, Starboard Position: the mirror of the port bar. Four bars in four lanes gives you width across the whole trolling lane and keeps the bars from stacking on each other through a turn.

Hogy Hybrid Conventional Rod: the drag and the spine to take a strike on a bar without folding, and it doubles as your jigging rod when the trolling shuts down and you want to work a mark.

Set it once, run it all day.

No Outrigger Bluefin Tuna Trolling + Hogy Directional Bird Bar

Capt. Mike Hogan shows us how to deploy a 5-rod no-outrigger tuna spread using the Hogy Directional Tuna Splash Bird Bars for trolling scattered tuna in Cape Cod Bay. The Hogy 18" Pocket Splash Bar has a place in every spread. Its small size makes it easy to manage on light tackle and traditional gear. The bird is made out of super lightweight foam that is impossibly strong. The oversized wings spray water up to 24" and are made of a semi-rigid plastic that reduces breakage when the bar hits the deck.

School Bluefin Tuna Trolling | Simple 4 Rod Spread | South of MV

Capt. Mike from Salty Cape and Hogy Lures loads up his 28' Contender and steams South of MV in anticipation of cashing in on a hot school Bluefin Tuna bite. With the fish being scattered, he name of the game was deploying a simple 4-rod spread of the Hogy Directional Bird Bars. These bars are ideal for any angler who doesn't have or doesn't want to deal with outriggers on their boat.
